“My biggest pet peeve is when people tell me ‘I hope you feel better.’ It’s not going to get better, it’s obviously something that can’t “get fixed.” It depends on the way they say it, if they look at me up and down or with a weird tone, then I know it’s passive aggressive. It definitely hurts more when it comes from an authority or an elder,” Alex Miller, 9, said. “I used to be insecure about my AFO (Ankle Foot Orthosis) and now I’m kind of showing them off. My biggest accomplishment is walking again and not giving up. I had a really bad onset, went into a coma, and woke up paralyzed.”
