Like a Bird

April 9

Like a bird, I migrate seasonally.

I ride the back of winds

Floating and falling down to Earth

I fly high and see all

For miles and miles, I soar

For hours and hours, I drift

Gliding like wings through your skies

Encapsulated in a hovering human house

Sitting, waiting, playing, listening, wondering, thinking

Arriving in a new mysterious place

Preparing for the next jaded season

Seasons come and go, like me.

I never stay for too long.

Like winter, I arrive and freeze.

My shyness is icy like outside.

Like icicles on the window sills,

They guard my heart from everyone.

Like spring, I adjust and grow.

My anxiety is like a flower.

It finds new places to root.

It keeps me grounded, too much.

Like summer, I stabilize and play.

My fear is like a volleyball.

Tossed around from place to place,

It reminds me why I fly.

Like autumn, I change and leave.

My time is like the airplane.

Ready to carry us all away.

The icicles, the flower, the volleyball.

Seasons come and go, like me.

I never stay for too long.

Like a bird, I migrate seasonally.

I ride the back of winds

Floating and falling down to Earth

I fly high and see all

For miles and miles, I soar

For hours and hours, I drift

Gliding like wings through your skies

Encapsulated in a hovering human house

Sitting, waiting, playing, listening, wondering, thinking

Arriving in a new mysterious place

Preparing for the next jaded season.
