Desmond Walker, a senior, plans on attending Norfolk State University (NSU) to become a teacher for the visually impaired. Walker has been blind for 6 years now. The cause of his blindness was surgery on the brain to make tumors on the optic nerve smaller.
“I want to use 3D techniques like my visually impaired teacher with other students,” said Walker, who wants to become this type of teacher because of his circumstances. “I’ve been wanting to do this for a year now,” Walker said.
Walker listens to is hip-hop and in his free time he likes to watch football, travel to the surrounding cities, play basketball, and go shopping.
Breaking stereotypes and boundaries, Walker refuses to let anything get in his way.
