About Us
Thank you for visiting the website of The Bruin Bulletin, Western Branch High School’s student newspaper. The Bruin Bulletin is primarily a student-run newspaper. Created in 2019, The Bruin Bulletin’s main goal is to provide news to the student body but also to its community in Chesapeake, VA. The Bruin Bulletin is the first student-run digital newspaper in the Chesapeake Public School District.
The Bruin Bulletin publishes articles monthly and serves students, faculty and the school’s community. Student journalists write and edit all articles. Students, faculty and staff are encouraged to read and submit material for publication. The news reporting, typesetting, layout, photography and computer graphics designs are also done by Mrs. Emerson’s second block journalism class and the students in the Newspaper Club, which meets every Thursday, after school, in room F6. We do not use anonymous sources, but we do provide retractions for any errors we have made.
If you would like to advertise with us, you can contact the adviser at [email protected].
This site was launched in October 2019 with just ten students on staff. We use School Newspapers Online (SNO) for the design. This year, as part of our push to provide more multimedia coverage, we have linked the school’s Twitter feed to our newspaper site. Our goal is to eventually work with the broadcast journalism classes to provide complete multimedia coverage.
The Bruin Bulletin can also bring you the latest news when you’re on the go. Visit www.thebruinbulletin.com any SmartPhone, and you will be directed to a mobile version of the site.
You can contact us by mail at 1968 Bruin Place, Chesapeake, VA 23321, or by phone at (757) 638-87900, or by email at [email protected].
